Early Life
Nadia Farmiga was born in the United States but her parents are Ukrainian immigrants to the United States, her father Mykhailo Farmiga and mother Luba Farmiga. Nadia comes from a big family of eight children and attended fairly famous sisters Vera and Taissa Farmiga actresses.
In the Farmiga household there were strong influences both Ukrainian and American traditions present. All the children of Nadia’s family were growing up as Ukrainians and they speak Ukrainian at home keeping the roots of their parents.
Creative environment was familiar to Nadia since childhood. Both her parents were immigrants from another country seeking for better live standards and as such the whole family supported their children’s dreams of practicing arts in any known field.

Born as a systems analyst, Mykhailo arrived to America as a technically skilled person, but also as a culturally mature individual. He told his children Ukrainian folklore, songs, and dances and made their bond with the Ukrainian territory even stronger.
Luba and Mykhailo Farmiga have successfully maintained the close-knit family, which offers Nadia all the support which she needs in her path within the sphere of art. Combining cultural background, family tradition and work, Nadia Farmiga has a promising individual experience as an actress.
It would seem that Nadia does not paint as large a picture as some of her brothers or sisters, but in my opinion, her story is just as inspiring. It is trying to tell a story of immigrants, importance of community’s roots and many possibilities of having the art inside themselves.
