Nadia Farmiga although not as famous as her other siblings is still the example of a family tradition, culture and art. Nadia, another member of the gifted Farmiga family, showcases stories of immigrants and artist struggles and dreams.
Early Life
Nadia Farmiga was born in the United States but her parents are Ukrainian immigrants to the United States, her father Mykhailo Farmiga and mother Luba Farmiga. Nadia comes from a big family of eight children and attended fairly famous sisters Vera and Taissa Farmiga actresses.
In the Farmiga household there were strong influences both Ukrainian and American traditions present. All the children of Nadia’s family were growing up as Ukrainians and they speak Ukrainian at home keeping the roots of their parents.
Creative environment was familiar to Nadia since childhood. Both her parents were immigrants from another country seeking for better live standards and as such the whole family supported their children’s dreams of practicing arts in any known field.
Although, she followed the path of Vera and Taissa who acted in movies, Nadia got interested in other types of art. During her youth, she engaged in different forms of arts immensely which gave her a broad base for when she was to take up a career.
Career
No matter not so famous as her actress sisters, Nadia Farmiga’s activity is no less interesting. As for the details of her work experience, it has not been disclosed and it remains unknown that she took specific successful road in creative field.
From the cultural background, one has heard a tale of Nadia that has been engaged in works that connect the Ukrainian and American cultures. From this point of view, her bilingual abilities were valuable in this regard as she has been serving to some extent as Ukrainian cultural broker helping to raise awareness of Ukrainian art and traditions in the United States.
Parents: Luba Farmiga and Mykhailo Farmiga
Nadia Farmiga’s mother, Luba, was born in Ukraine and she used to teach in school before moving to the United States of America. Appreciated for her hard-working personality and great desire to maintain the Ukrainian traditions, Luba passed the desire for their folk culture onto her children.
Born as a systems analyst, Mykhailo arrived to America as a technically skilled person, but also as a culturally mature individual. He told his children Ukrainian folklore, songs, and dances and made their bond with the Ukrainian territory even stronger.
Luba and Mykhailo Farmiga have successfully maintained the close-knit family, which offers Nadia all the support which she needs in her path within the sphere of art. Combining cultural background, family tradition and work, Nadia Farmiga has a promising individual experience as an actress.
It would seem that Nadia does not paint as large a picture as some of her brothers or sisters, but in my opinion, her story is just as inspiring. It is trying to tell a story of immigrants, importance of community’s roots and many possibilities of having the art inside themselves.
