Comparing the Keurig K425 vs K525 Review

Hello guys! Today I have a new review by a guest contributor. The following post compares two other modern Keurig models I have not covered…they are pretty similar to the K475 and its next successor, the K575, that I have previously discussed.

If you’re interested in some additional 2.0 options, these two are worthwhile to check out. OK, I will let Dawid take it from here! Many thanks for this in-depth analysis.

There are many Keurig coffee makers and choosing the best among them might be confusing. In this article, we are going to discuss two models of Keurig coffee makers, and that is Keurig K425 and Keurig K525. The mentioned models are in high demand mostly because they possess all the useful features of coffee makers. As mentioned earlier, there have been multiple types of Keurig coffee makers, and with the different options and capabilities, buyers might find it difficult to select the best. Below are essential factors that you should look at in the selection of Keurig coffee makers.[toc]

K Mug and K Carafe compatibility

The first thing to look at is how you’d like to proceed. Will you be using the K Carafe and K Mug, or you will be making your brew in cup sized portions? Second generation Keurig coffee makers were built to accept new types of pods enabling you to brew mugs from sizes 12 to 18 ounces and carafes of 22 to 30 ounces. This was a great innovation from the first generation coffee makers. If you intend to make large quantities of coffee, consider buying coffee makers from the 2.0 generation. However, if you are making coffee for home use, the first generation Keurig coffee makers will work best for you.

DRM device

The second generation coffee makers came with a bit of controversy: Digital Rights Management. This inclusion only allows the customer to use cups that were approved by Keurig. Many people did not like this idea and some customers were turned off. Well, things have changed, and you can now buy regular disposable cups but the fact that you must use approved Keurig pods remain a deterrent to many customers. If you are the type that wants to try a variety of pods, the 2.0 Keurig coffee makers are not the best option for you.

My K-cup

In order to alleviate customer complaints about the DRM device, the company introduced a reusable coffee pod which can be used over and over with regular coffee. This option allows coffee lovers to use any coffee compared to the standard pods initially produced. Note that, the My K-Cup is compatible with all Keurig coffee makers.

Drink options

In relation to the DRM device, it is good to mention the different variety of beverages available to buyers of Keurig. After the Keurig coffee makers were introduced in the market, the company patented the pods. However, they decided to allow other companies to produce pods after their patent expired. Right now, there are many companies that produce pods that can be utilized in Keurig machines. This change was welcomed by customers because they now had a range of products to choose from. More to that, the cups were less expensive than the originally approved pods.

Touch screen and push-button controls

Keurig machines have been widely known for their ease of use. The process of making coffee with the machines is straightforward. The first generation machines had push control buttons while the second generation improved to touch screen displays. The 2.0 machines have color displays as well. The latest machines have been replaced with the push button technology again. The choice you will make here depends on your preference when it comes to pushing buttons or touch screen, but the bottom line remains that the machines are simple to operate.

Drink size

Keurig coffee makers enable you to choose the size of your beverage. Basic machines have three or four capacity options, but there are others which give many options. This allows you to make coffee as per demand to avoid wastage.

Adjustable strength

Many Keurig machines give the option to choose either strong and regular drinks. Well, not all machines offer this option, but most of them do. If you love your drink strong, this is a feature you should be looking for when buying the Keurig coffee machines.

Temperature

Some of the most expensive Keurig coffee makers allow users to select the exact temperature of their drinks. This gives the user more control when brewing. Note that, this feature is common in advanced models, not more simple devices. If the temperature is important to you, this is a feature you should watch out for during your purchase.

Water reservoir size

The reservoir size differs from machines. It is an important thing to consider, depending upon the amount of coffee you will be brewing. If you intend to be making large amounts of coffee, you will need a machine with larger reservoirs and vice versa. You do not want to keep on refilling the machine every now and then. Just get the right size according to your needs.

Programmable

Some of the higher-end Keurig machines offer the option to program your machine such that, it turns on and begins to brew at the set time. If you drink coffee each morning, this is an excellent feature because you can set it to start brewing when your alarm sounds. Note that, this is a “Carafe only†feature, and is not available for the regular K-Cups.
