Valentin Novopolskij’s Career and Earnings

He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2024, Best Actor for the film 9-tas Zingsnis, and a nomination for Best Actor in 2019. He won the Best Actor award in 2020 for his role in Oleg and Best Supporting Actor in 2014 for his Non-Present Time role. His acting career began with the film Defiance in 2008 and Duburys in 2009. Defiance is based on the true story of four Jewish brothers during World War II who ran away from their homeland and joined the Soviet partisans to fight against the Nazis and they rescue several Jews who are trapped in Poland.

In 2013, he landed a role in the miniseries Generation War and on the TV series Moteru Laime. Valentin has been on other films like Non-Present Time, The Assets, Winter Thaw, Emilia released in 2017, The Purple Mist, and Oleg. The Winter Thaw is about an old man who comes to the reality of dealing with his mistakes and faces a tragedy on Christmas.  Oleg was directed by Juris Kursietis in 2019, where a young butcher moves to Brussels intending to get a well-paying salary while working at the meat factory. He is betrayed by a co-worker and his life turns around as he is in a new country where he knows nobody and ends up under the care of a criminal. The film shows the life and experiences of Europe’s migrant market where they just labor, experience hardships, and are still willing to keep pushing.

In 2018, he had a busy year with features on Owl Mountain, Aldebaran, Snake, Sasha was Here, and one episode of Moscow Noir. Dawn of War was released in 2020 followed by four episodes on the TV series Max Anger with One Eye Open and seven episodes of Crime Solving for Beginners as Nikolay Nolle. Other roles are in the films Isvyka, Parade, and 9 Tas Zingsnis. In 2023, he was shooting for Evrey, With My Own Eyes, and on five episodes of Troll Farm. Valentin’s latest projects were in 2024 with roles on Johatsu, Under the Grey Sky as Pod szarym niebem, and the mini-series Padomju dzinsi.

Under The Grey Sky was released in 2024 under director Mara Tamkovich. The storyline is about a journalist who is arrested after livestreaming during a peaceful demonstration showing the government crackdowns. The system aims at crashing her spirit to make her stop but she’s resilient with the support of her husband. The film Johatsu directed by Lina Luzyte and Nerijus Milerius showing a ship explosion that kills a man and he disappears leaving no trace. The movie shows them trying to figure out if the explosion was an accident or if somebody tried to cover it up to protect someone else or something.
