Luanne Ruth Schedeen professionally known as Anne Schedeen, was born on January 8, 1949, in Portland, Oregon to Betty Jane and Roland E Schedeen, former Oregon State Senator and farmer. She is the sibling to Sarahbeth, Tony, and half-brother Brinkley. Her stepbrother is from her mother’s first marriage and was born in 1946 and died in 2009. Her mother Betty enrolled her in a youth drama club to help with her shyness and started performing at the Portland Civic Theatre and went to Gresham High School till 1967. She enrolled at Portland State University and finished at Fort Wright College in Toppenish, Washington. After school, she moved to pursue her acting career in New York City.
Schedeen and her husband Christopher Barrett, a talent agent, met while at work during a stage play in 1972. They got married in 1982 while celebrating their tenth anniversary since they met. The couple is blessed with a daughter, Taylor, born in 1989. Her pregnancy journey with her daughter was written into ALF. Schedeen joined the Holiday Heroes as an ambassador in the Bulgarian-based organization that works to assist disadvantaged people and is a non-profit. She is a coach working with comedy actors during her part-time hours, an antique, and loves everything décor. Schedeen lives in her LA home with her partner and children.

Her career began in 1974 playing minor roles on television like when she was a supporting cast in the making of the sci-fi horror movie Embryo in 1976 after signing a contract with Universal Pictures. She has played roles in other films on films like Emergency, Three’s Company released in the 1970s, and Paper Dolls along with stars like Lloyd Bridges and Lauren Hutton. On the comedy series Cheers, she landed a role in the second season, had recurring roles on Judging Amy in 2001, and was on the four seasons of ALF. She had been on other shows that did not reach to be aired until she found a job on ALF in 1986 as a regular.
Schedeen is popular for her role on the NBC sitcom ALF playing the role of Kate Tanner, a mother who takes an alien into her home. The series was positively received and had good ratings and this put her on international recognition.
