Shaun Cassidy entered into music in the 1970s under Warner Bros. Records and released his first album Shaun Cassidy and Born Late. The two albums were a hit and opened ways for him to grow in the television and film industry. The album included one of his cover of Crystals’ Da Doo Ron Ron and the song became a number one hit on Billboard Hot 100, while the song That’s Rock n Roll was number three on the chart. Other hit songs were Teen Dream, Walk Away, and the single Hey Deanie. He had sold out concerts at major arenas like Madison Square Garden in New York and Astrodome in Houston. Cassidy released three more albums; Under Wraps, Room Service, and Wasp although they did not do so well and not a single song on the charts.

He is the writer of the television shows American Gothic, Strays, Midnight Run for Your Life, and Invasion. Cassidy began producing television shows and writing in the 1990s. His first show was the horror series American Gothic with eight episodes but was unfortunately cancelled in 1996. Most of his shows were short lived but he kept working on them. In 2023 he started writing for the NBC New Amsterdam a medical series drama.

Throughout the 1980s and 90s, he was acting in the theatre and was recognized for his role on Buss Stop and Mass Appeal by Broadway and West End Productions. Cassidy won a Drama Logue Award for his character in Diary of a Hunger Strike by Mark Sheridan. He is privileged to have worked with his half-brother David in the hit song Blood Brothers on Broadway. Cassidy retired from performing but made a comeback in 2021 touring the music show The Magic Midnight Sky on his own across the US. It was a live music performance playing to SRO crowds nationwide.

Shaun Cassidy was born on 27 September 1958 in Los Angeles, California. His parents are Academy Award-winning and Tony award-winning actors Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy. He is the eldest brother to Ryan and Patrick and half-brother to David Cassidy, an actor and singer-songwriter. Growing up his family lived either in New York City or Los Angeles due to his parent’s work schedule. While in high school at Beverly Hills High School, Cassidy was signed by Warner Bros. Records.

Cassidy and his first wife actress Ann Pennington got married in 1979. Unfortunately, they divorced in 1993 and have a daughter named Caitlin and a son, Jake. In 1995, he married actress Susan Diol and they have a daughter Juliet although they divorced in 2003. His third wife is producer Tracey Lynn Turner and they wed in 2004.
