Lucas Black was born on November 29, of 1982 in Decatur, Alabama the son of office worker Jan and museum employee Larry. He has two elder siblings, and he grew up in Southern Baptist religion. Raised in Speake, Alabama, football was a major part of Black’s high school athletic career, and he played for the Speake Bobcats.

First professional movie by Lucas Black was the War (1994,) in which he portrayed the character Ebb Lipnicki. Two years later, he starred in Sling Blade by Billy Bob Thornton and in Ghosts of Mississippi by Rob Reiner.
In 1998 Black appeared in the motion picture adaptation of the television show “The X-Files”. He was more active the next year, in Antonio Banderas’s “Crazy in Alabama” where he portrayed a teenager who resides with his grandparents in small-town Alabama in 1965.
