Jerome Jesse Berry was born on 7 August 1934 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, USA. He is the son of Robert Kester Berry and Cora Lee Berry. He is an American National of African American ethnicity. He spent his childhood in his hometown and was raised as a Christian.

Jesse Berry served in the Air Force. Later, he began working as a bus driver for Bluebird Travel Lines, where he remained for a while. He married Judith Ann Hawkins. When they first met, they were both employed at a psychiatric institution in Cleveland.

Judith worked as a nurse at the hospital at the time. Halle has two children, Nahla Ariela Aubry and Maceo Robert Martinez, from her past relationship. Jerome passed away in January 2003 at Euclid General Hospital in Euclid, Ohio. Jerome Jesse Berry’s cause of death was a result of Parkinson’s disease. In 2004, Halle earned her largest single career paycheck when she was paid $14 million – the same as $19 million in today’s dollars – to star in the rebooted Catwoman. Halle has consistently earned $10-12 million per major film role. She was consistently one of the highest-paid actresses in the world in the 2000s.

Halle won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for her portrayal of Dorothy Dandridge in the film Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. Berry also won an Oscar for Best Actress for her starring role in Monster’s Ball and was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2001 for the same performance.
