The daughter of the professional wrestling superstar Sylvester Ritter or as he was popularly known the Junkyard Dog, Latoya Ritter has found her niche in a way that pays tribute to the legendary father’s career. Her story is a story of one-woman triumph against adversity and of the bond that exists between family members.

Early Life

Latoya Ritter was certainly no typical girl of her generation, for she was born in the early eighties. She grew up in a family of one of the most famous personalities of the world of professional wrestling which gave her a chance to enjoy the life most children can only dream of.

While still young, Latoya balanced her time reading wrestling events as well as being a typical kid from Charlotte – North Carolina. Growing up, Latoya experienced her father’s adulations that he gets from his fans all around the country.

Latoya says at home her father is a caring, protective father who did his best to fend for the family despite the rigorous schedules in the musical calendar year. She spent her childhood moving around a lot because her father took her to wrestling matches.

It should however be noted that while growing up, Latoya was raised in an unconventional family, nonetheless her parents never lacking discipline ensured that she had a home front that was stable and most importantly her parents ensured that she valued education.

Career

Unlike her father, Latoya Ritter did not follow the footsteps in wrestling profession while growing up. Rather, she had to select a different course that she could help people in a different positive way. That’s why Latoya has chosen her profession of social work, which involves assisting Children and Families unit.

The decision of what kind of job to get demonstrates the ethic that her parents raised her with which was to help others. As through her work has seen Latoya helps many people, offer them the support and directions during dramatic situations. Some of the good points that came up regarding her life as a child celebrity and about her losses are seen here come up and contribute to her career as a social worker greatly that is why today she is holding this position.

Parents: Junkyard Dog

To millions of fans, and to Latoya in particular, Sylvester Ritter was not only a wrestling superstar. Sylvester was born in 1952 in Wadesboro, North Carolina and became one of the best showmen of the Professional Wrestling in the 80s.

His appearance with wearing dog collar and chain coupled with his strength and agility means that he enjoyed by supporters across country. However, the Junkyard Dog did more than just supporting a professional wrestling competition.

He was also one of the first famous African American wrestlers who helped integrate the sport for everyone. Latoya Ritter’s story is a particular testament of Mira’s love as a parent, as well as that resilient theme of walking the different journey in honor of one’s parents.
